LANSING – As southeastern Michigan and the city of Westland struggle with the ongoing epidemic of home foreclosures, State Representative Richard LeBlanc (D-Westland) today announced the Michigan Mortgage Brokers Association (MMBA) is hosting a free educational seminar entitled "My Home, My Future" scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Detroit's Cobo Exhibition and Conference Center.
"Many of Michigan's working families purchased their homes at a time when our state's economy was better and interest rates were lower," LeBlanc said. "During these difficult economic times, many of Michigan's families are scraping by doing everything they can to keep their homes. The 'My Home, My Future' educational forum sponsored by the Michigan Mortgage Brokers Association is a great opportunity for homeowners or potential homeowners to learn more about the many challenges facing today's families."
The free consumer education seminar will focus on homeownership, homeownership retention, budgeting, credit issues, the lending process, preventing foreclosure, financing options, and finding a mortgage professional to work with when purchasing a home.
The forum will feature different presentations by MMBA professionals and educators. There will also be HUD counselors from across Michigan, industry experts, information for free credit reports, finance and budgeting forms and consumer homeownership tips available onsite.
The MMBA "My Home, My Future" homeownership seminar is scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Cobo Exhibition and Conference Center located at One Washington Blvd., Detroit. For more information, please visit www.mmbaonline.com or call (517) 371-8023.
