LANSING – State Representative Richard LeBlanc (D-Westland) extends his gratitude to Marvaso's Italian Grille for catering his "First Bill Luncheon," a tradition in the Michigan House of Representatives that calls for a lawmaker to host a luncheon after his or her first bill passes the House.
"It was great to be able to bring a taste of Westland, and a taste of Italy, to the Capitol in honor of my first bill passing," LeBlanc said. "I'd like to thank George Marvaso for serving up his delicious food to my fellow lawmakers. Judging by the amount of food my colleagues consumed, Marvaso's was a huge hit."
LeBlanc's first bill passed the House in March with a vote of 93-17. It prohibits drivers from changing lanes in the middle of an intersection that has a traffic signal. The bill is now in the Senate.
George Marvaso, the owner of Marvaso's, his son Geo, his daughter Leslie and Dave Reed, the restaurant's head cook, were on hand during LeBlanc's "First Bill Luncheon." They supplied members of the House of Representatives with a tasty selection of pastas, desserts and more.
"Passing my first bill was a big honor for me, and it was a pleasure to be able to celebrate the occasion with one of the businesses in my hometown," LeBlanc said.
