WESTLAND – State Representative Richard LeBlanc (D-Westland) wants to beautify local neighborhoods, and he's going to do it one tree at a time. On Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, volunteers will fan out across Westland to give away 2,000 red pine saplings to residential households and share information about recycling in the area.
"This is a true grassroots effort that will beautify our neighborhoods and improve the quality of our land, air and water," LeBlanc said. "We are literally planting the seeds of a better future for our community. I encourage residents to join us as we hand out trees and recycling information to our neighbors."
Volunteers will hand out trees and recycling information throughout the district Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
LeBlanc will hand out trees and recycling information Saturday at the Westland Historic Village Park, 857 North Wayne Road, between noon and 3 p.m.
"It's through community efforts such as this that we can make our neighborhoods better places to live, work and raise our families," LeBlanc said. "Planting trees is a solid investment in a brighter future."
LeBlanc would like to thank Wyman State Forest Nursery who raised and sold the trees.
